TIM SPECK, AUCTIONEER "Experience sells. |
What is Absentee Bidding?
It is the method used by auctions to accept bids from those, who cannot attend the auction itself. In our case, we have an employee who acts as Absentee Bidder for ALL the absentee bids placed. The employee will bid up to and including the bid price that is left for the item.
If the Item sells at a lower price than I have left a bid for, am I billed for the bid that I left anyway?
No. Should the bidding stop before reaching your absentee bid, the item is sold at the lower price and bidding does not proceed. You are billed for the selling price.
Will my name be kept confidential?
Every effort is made to keep ALL bidders, whether in attendance or not, in conf idence. If someone feels they would like to contact a person who bought an item, we ask that person to leave their name and phone number and then forward that information to the buyer.
What happens if I purchase an item through Absentee Bidding?
If your bid is successful, you will be contacted within 24 hours of the end of the auction. At that time, it is your responsibility to send prompt payment in the form of Cashier's Check or Money Order. No credit card purchases. Personal Checks accepted but will take longer to clear the bank. After payment is confirmed, your item is taken to a shipper who then contacts you for shipping information. All shipping charges are the responsibility of the buyer. You may also arrange yourself to have your items picked up within 2 weeks of the end of the auction.
Will I be contacted if I don't get the item?
No, we do not attempt contact with unsuccessful bidders.
What if I change my mind after leaving a bid?
You need to contact us at least 24 hours prior to the start of the auction in order to change or withdraw your bid. Just as if you were attending the auction, once the item has been sold to your name, the item becomes your possession to do with as you choose. Even while the item is waiting to be shipped, it belongs to you and is your responsibility to pay for.
I'd like to leave a bid but have same questions about my item. What do I do?
Again, we encourage all questions or bids be submitted by 24 hours prior to the auction's start. Every effort is made to give honest answers to the best of our knowledge on the condition of the item. If you manage to reach us just prior to or during the auction, you may only leave bids at that time, there will not be someone available to answer questions.
I'm not sure what I am prepared to pay. Can I bid over the phone during the auction?
We discourage live phone bidding except in very rare instances. Our manpower is totally taken up during our extremely busy auctions with attending and absentee bidders. We prefer not to be responsible for unsuccessful attempts to reach bidders at a moment's notice or for unpredictable phone connections.
I'm prepared to leave an Absentee Bid, now what do I do?
You may do this via phone, fax or email. In all cases, we need the following information: name, address, day & evening phone numbers, your method of payment if successful and, of course, your bid. If submitting by email, you will receive email confirmation of receipt of your bid. we cannot be responsible for technical difficulties that result in us not receiving your bid. Therefore, if you are not certain that we have recorded your bid, it is a good idea to contact us by phone.
